http://service.real.com/help/library/players.html

13. When I click on a video link with my Mac, a file downloads and I get an error message, "can not open

this type of file"

The reason for the error message is the Mac does not recognize the file extension in the video link. Video

links may have several file extensions; .smi, .smil, .ram, .rm. You will be able to determine the file

extension by getting info on the file and changing the default application for opening this type of file.

To remedy, find the file of the video “reflector” that was downloaded to the desktop and click "apple i" to

get info on the file. Click on the pull down menu in the info box you just opened. Click on "open with

application". Click on RealOne and click on "open all files of this type" so whenever you click on a video link

with the same extension it will open with Real Player
